62Ancient Bihar was called Magadha with its capital at Patliputra. Patliputra was established by Ajatsatru the son of Bimbisara. The capital was then built by Udayin, the son of Ajatsatru. The history of ancient India is virtually the history of Magadha. The capital of then Mgadha is today the capital city called Patna, the modern city of Patna.
